For our important client in the Czech Republic, a global supplier of hydraulic system solutions, we are currently implementing a complete long-term direct material optimization (DMO) project:

we have mutually defined the goal to carry out first of all an analysis of the purchasing department with the primary objective to jointly review the purchasing conditions of all commodity groups. In particular, we focused on savings in procurement and the sustainability of returns and market increases. This project phase lasted for 2 weeks, and at the end of our two-week cooperation we provided the client with a concrete optimization savings potential of 2.2 million Euros.

Based on the findings from the potential analysis, we proceeded to project phase 1.
The first phase of implementation is a project work directly on site, which is planned for a period of 6 months. During this time, our purchasing experts, together with the customer, realize the greatest possible savings using various appropriate optimization levers (mostly through negotiations and requests for offers/changes of suppliers in selected areas). For each material group, at the time of involvement in the project, an initial report is prepared, which the client approves in advance, and changes are made only after mutual approval. Our support activities are therefore carried out in the form of a jointly developed strategy, and we are also actively involved in implementation and realization.

The total amount of the client's direct purchase is part of the jointly agreed optimization project, with the exception of topics that were defined at the beginning of the project as not belonging to the project.

Another successful project implemented by Kloepfel Consulting is a customer that operates as one of the largest manufacturers in the aviation industry in the world and deals with the development, production, sale and service of military aircraft and civil aviation equipment. As part of the project, our customer:

in the preparatory phase he commissioned the analysis of the optimization of the client's purchase and the potential of "make or buy".

The results showed us that the client had a significant volume of purchases that required optimization. At the time, a look at the result of our analysis indicated to us the significant potential in the area of "make or buy" as well. Based on specific calculations, we were able to establish with the client our initial savings target of almost €2.6 million.

In the first phase of the project, after implementing the proposed and pre-agreed steps, we came to the conclusion that despite the enormous negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the world economy, we successfully completed the project.
